'Peonies & Oranges', 'Pink Peonies' & 'Red Bouquet'

Mary - I have loved drawing and painting all my life, I am mostly self-taught but I did study with a very talented artist with a string of degrees for 7 years, nobody famous but did lovely work. I have been in several galleries here in the Twin Cities and was fortunate to be modestly successful as far as sales and commissions were concerned. Now I am concentrating on print sales. I am fascinated with the artist Sir Alma Tedema for figures and Turner for landscapes. I love all genres of art and have started to do abstracts by manipulating my originals digitally.

Boyan - When we have so much bright, flashy digital art it is sometimes easy to forget the beauty of a still life oil painting but I think Mary Lou reminds us of this perfectly with her work. The paintings are gentle, expressive and full of the colours of life. While composing this I noticed just how well her work sits beside the other features of the past week which are completely different in style and just affirms what I'm saying.
